E-Link 1000EXR

The E-Link 1000EXR Class: Proven in 3G/4G carrier and enterprise installations around the world
The E-Link 1000EXR provides the highest 70/80 GHz performance available, thanks to our exclusive Microwave Monolithic Integrated Circuit (MMIC) technology. Available with either a 1 foot antenna (0.3m) or 2 foot antenna (0.6m), the 1000EXR offers higher throughput, longer distances, superior reliability & faster ROI.
The 1000EXR brings new state-of-the-art design innovations to the E-band 80 GHz frequency segment, including PoE (Power-over-Ethernet) and field-selectable GigE interfaces that enable customers to choose any combination of copper, fiber or mixed configurations during installation. The all-outdoor 1000EXR has the smallest form factor, lightest weight and lowest power consumption in its class.

The 1000EXR continues the company’s RF leadership position with the industry’s highest output power at +23dBm, and the lowest latency at less than 5 microseconds. E-Band’s nearly quarter-watt output power, driven by proprietary gallium arsenide MMICs, enables the 1000EXR to provide the longest link distances and highest QoS in the 70/80 GHz GigE sector, which is essential for carrier grade LTE networks. Additionally, the E-Link 1000EXR can be field upgraded to a configuration that provides 2.5 Gbps over the air, and can also be seamlessly integrated into any Ethernet IP or TDM network carrying multiple E1/T1 and STM1/OC3s.

About E-Band’s New Universal “Quick Swap” Copper/Fiber Interface

• This E-Band innovation enables the use of one radio design for any combination of copper, fiber or mixed interfaces

• Simplifies ordering and stocking of radios

• Reduces distributor/operator/installer capital expenditures/inventory

• Provides E-Band distributors/integrators with a competitive advantage

• Speeds response to customer (reduced order time and no advance configuring)

• Improves reliability (weather seal doesn’t need to be broken to change interface)

• Grows and transitions with the customer’s network

• Eliminates the cost of sending units back to factory to modify interface, and reduces down time

The problem faced by the industry and customers

In the past, wireless distributors and integrators were faced with having to order and stock different radios with various GBIC (Gigabit Interface Convertor) interfaces for copper, fiber or a mixed connection configuration. The SFP (Small Form-Factor Pluggable) GBIC has historically been built into the design of the radio (inside the factory-sealed housing). This design presents a challenge to distributors, installers and their customers. First, distributors/installers need to respond quickly to customer needs, and having to order the exact interface type delays this response. Second, if the distributor/installer wants to have radios on hand to speed customer response, keeping a multitude of radios in stock with varying connection types is not cost effective and ties up capital. Third, if a customer’s network evolves, for example from copper to fiber, making this change in the radio traditionally requires sending the unit back to the manufacturer and incurring the cost of converting the GBIC, which also has the negative consequence of breaking the weather/warranty seal.

E-Band’s solution (patent pending)

Engineers at E-Band listened to customer input and designed an innovative solution to the fiber/copper interface problem. On new E-Band radios, the SFP is now external to the unit’s housing. This means that the ODU (outdoor unit) for copper, fiber or mixed interface configurations is exactly the same. Swapping between different interfaces simply involves removing a retaining screw from the connector, pulling out the connector insert, sliding out the old SFP from the cable insert, changing the cable running into the connector, and then reversing the process (i.e., slide in the new SFP, install insert, install screw).

Accepts different types of serial inputs and converts them into a single data stream.
Provides native transport for Ethernet, E3/DS3/STS-1, STS-3/STM-1, SONET/OC-3 and NxE1/T1.
E-Link Interface Modules make customization of MultiPort easy, without having to climb towers as with competing solutions.
Choose Interface Modules from 2xE1 plus GigE, to 23xT1/E1 or up to 3xSTM-1 interfaces plus GigE.
High throughput (up to 1000Mbps, TDM/IP traffic).
IP switch support: VLAN, QoS, ToS.
Management: CLI, HTML, or SNMPv1.
Reduces CAPEX expenditures. Enables the operator to maintain TDM traffic while migrating to an all IP network.
Easy to install and reliable. Only one cable (GigE) is needed between the MultiPort IDU and E-Link ODU.
